Professional Profile

Dr. Campbell joined the College of Education and Social Sciences in 2005.  She received a B.S. in biology in 1995 from Texas Tech University, a M.S. in biology in 1999 from Texas Tech University and an Ed.D. in curriculum and instruction with a specialization in science education in 2002 from Texas Tech University.

Teaching and Related Service

Dr. Campbell teaches Science Methods.

Dr. Campbell is the author of articles in national and state journals such as the Journal of College Science Teaching, Science Scope and the Texas Science Teacher.  She has presented her research both nationally and internationally.

Dr. Campbell is a member of the Association for Science Teacher Education (ASTE), the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), the Southwest Educational Research Association (SERA) and the Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT).  She serves as the faculty adviser for the WTAMU NSTA student chapter, and she also serves on the board of trustees for the Don Harrington Discovery Center.  In addition, Dr. Campbell co-chairs the annual Panhandle Area Math and Science Conference at WTAMU each September.

Research and Creative Activity

Dr. Campbell's research interests include pre-service teachers' understanding of the nature of science and gender equity in science.

Personal Sketch

Dr. Campbell lives in Canyon with her husband, John and their two sons, Stephen and Preston.  She enjoys creating tile mosaics, visiting the Amarillo Botanical Gardens and hiking with her family in Palo Duro Canyon.
