Texas School Leader Certification - Principal and Superintendent

The West Texas A&M University Educational Leadership Program prepares confident, skilled, and reflective leaders of education to pursue excellence and make powerful and lasting impacts in their communities. This program's degree and certification options include the Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree, Texas principal certification, and Texas superintendent certification.

Educational Leadership candidates can expect the following:

High Quality Curriculum

Meaningful and relevant online course work and practical field experiences aligned to national and state standards providing a balanced blend of theory, research, and practice to enhance the educational leadership development.

Value – Added Instruction

Professors who are certified and experienced Texas public school leaders, facilitating instruction grounded in theory and research and informed by years of practice in mid-management and executive leadership positions.

Flexibility for Candidates

Fully online degree and certificate programs with selected courses offered on seven-week, half semester bases.

Spring School Board Workshop

The spring school board workshop is scheduled on May 16. Please visit the school board workshop webpage for more information and to register online.

Summer and Fall Registration

Priority registration opens for currently enrolled EDLD candidates on 4/2 and for new program candidates on 4/23 on Buff Advisor. Refer to the Advising documents posted on the Enrolling in Classes page for guidance on course selections in response to program changes.

Master's Comprehensive Exam

The testing window for the spring online administration of the master's comprehensive exam is scheduled on 4/12 - 4/15 and the on campus administration is on 4/13. The registration deadline is 4/2.

Graduation Applications

Graduation applications for May were due December 1. If you plan to graduate at the end of this semester, but have not yet applied, do so ASAP!
