Biography

Robert J. Krause holds the Bachelor of Music, the Master of Music, and the Doctor of Musical Arts Degrees from the University of Miami (Florida) and has done additional study at Stockwell College in Kent, England. He is Professor of Oboe at West Texas A&M University and in the summers teaches oboe at the Interlochen Arts Camp in Interlochen, Michigan. He has played principal oboe in the Hollywood Philharmonic, Northwest Louisiana, and Roswell Symphonies, English horn in the Miami Philharmonic and Fort Lauderdale Symphony, and has also performed as oboist in the Mostly Mozart Orchestra, the Fort Meyers Symphony, and the El Paso Opera Orchestra.
 

In addition to teaching oboe, Dr. Krause teaches music theory, music literature, opera history, form and analysis, is the director of the Matilda Gaume Early Music Consort and serves as an Advsing Fellow in the STARR Center. He is principal oboist in the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, and the Amarillo Opera. He has also been heard in the series "Music from Interlochen" on National Public Radio.
